Abstract

In the twenty-first-century digital ecosystem, brands no longer communicate in a vacuum. Their narratives live, mutate, and multiply within vast online communities whose conversations are shaped by algorithms, identities, and emotions. Within these spaces—what scholars increasingly refer to as echo chambers—users are surrounded by information that confirms pre-existing beliefs, amplifying group identity and silencing dissenting perspectives (Cinelli et al., 2021; Hartmann et al., 2025). The consequence for brand management is profound: a brand’s voice competes not only with competitors but with its own consumers’ reinterpretations, memes, and ideological filters. In essence, brands no longer simply speak; they are spoken through.
